Inaugural T2T Event in the Upper Paugussett State Forest on the Lillinonah Trail.
The Lillinonah Trail is a rugged trail with frequent changes in elevation as it mostly follows the edge of the State Forest property. The Connecticut DEEP has designated a 3.1-mile section near the lakeshore as a scenic trail because of the excellent views of Lake Lillinonah, the Shepaug River inlet, the Shepaug Dam, and of the three bordering towns on the lake (Newtown, Bridgewater and Southbury). The trail also passes through an extensive sugar maple operation in the vicinity of the Echo Valley Rd parking area.
Race Day Registration:
This event has no race day registration. We surprisingly have a great interest in this event, beyond what we have expected, and now are beyond capacity. Due to limited parking at this location and other logistics, we have to cut off the event to certain capacity. We also only have so many bibs…we basically ran out for this event.
CHECK IN AND PACKET PICKUP:
Check-in will begin at 7:00 AM. This will be at the Start/Finish area. We encourage you to check in at or before 7:30 AM to avoid late crowds at check-in so it does not delay start time.
START TIME AND LOCATION:
Start time: 8:00Am
Trail starts adjacent to Hanover Road, and the first trail marker you see says “Al’s Trail – Northern Terminus”.
Parking is adjacent to the boat launch on Hanover Rd.
FUEL AND AID STATIONS: (2)
The race configuration allows for you to pass through the Start/Finish once every 10k loop where the main aid station is located. The second aid station is located 4 miles in and will have water and some snacks.
The main aid station will consist of the following: Water, Fuel 100 Electro-Bites, Bananas and Oranges, Hammer Nutrition gels, HEED electrolyte drink, and Endurolyte supplements. Their will be another unmanned aid station that will consist of water.
We encourage that you bring a handheld water bottle, or the like, to keep it ‘green’, although cups will be available
You will follow the existing Blazed Lillinonah Trail clockwise. You must have basic trail knowledge in order to follow the blazed trail systems. This should be a basic skill of every trail runner.
Each participant who resister by March 11th and checks in on race day, will receive a custom T2T cotton T-shirt so you can wear also wear when you are not trailrunning but thinking about trailrunning (which, of course, is every second during waking hours).
